Are the batteries charged when they come? How do I charge it?

The battery or batteries you receive from us are NOT charged. To charge your battery, please connect the device to AC power (a wall plug). Most devices have an indicator that will indicate that the battery is charging. Refer to the user manual of the device for proper and accurate charging instructions.

What is the manufacturer charging recommendation?

You must follow the instructions written in device manual regarding battery charging instructions. The manufacturer recommends charging the battery for 12 hours without interruption for the first time. After charge it for 12 hours, use the phone until it drains out the power and repeat this at least 3 times after to prevent the battery from not functioning properly. This will expand the battery lifespan and extend the usage time.

How can I get the most out of my battery?

We recommend that you do not use the battery whenever you have available AC power. Each battery is rated for a limited number of charge-discharge cycles. Avoid dropping the batteries, do not use any improvised chargers other than the ones sold by us or the manufacturers. Excessive heat or cold can also damage a battery.

How do I dispose my old battery?

RBRC (Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation) will recycle the metals and plastics found in old working and non-working rechargeable batteries. Contact them at http://www.call2recycle.org.

Where do I find battery installation instructions?

Our first recommendation would be refer the owners manual of your device for battery installation instructions. Installation instructions for few models are listed in Installtion Guides section of our website. If you don't see a model listed then please use search engines to find instructions.

Battery capacity: mAh rating?

mAh - an abbreviation for milliamp hours. Milliamp hours is a technical rating that defines the battery's total capacity. The higher the mAh rating, the longer your battery can last between charges. Battery capacity quanitifes the total amount of energy stored within a battery. More capacity equals longer time between battery charges. Battery capacity is measured in amperes, which is the volume of electrons passing through the batteries electrolyte per second. A milliAmp hour (mAh) is the most commonly used notation system for consumer electronic batteries. Note that 1000 mAh is the same as 1 Ah. (Just as 1000mm equals 1 meter). Our batteries have typically a higher mAh rating than OEM batteries (the manufacturer of your device).

How Do I care for My Battery?

Your new battery comes in a discharged condition and must be charged before use. Upon initial use (or after prolonged storage period) the battery may require two to three charge/discharge cycles before achieving maximum capacity.

My new battery Will not charge?

New batteries are shipped in a discharged condition and must be charged before use. We generally recommend an overnight charge (approximately twelve hours). Refer to your device user’s manual for charging instruction. Rechargeable batteries should be cycled – fully charged and then fully discharged – 2 to 4 times initially to allow them to reach their full capacity. (Note: It is perfectly normal for a battery to become warm to the touch during charging and discharging). New batteries are hard for your device to charge; they have never been fully charged and are therefore “unformed”. Sometimes your device’s charger will stop charging a new battery before it is fully charged. If this happens, simply remove the battery from your device and then re-insert it. The charge cycle should start again. This may happen several times during your first battery charge.

How can I maximize my battery performance?

Breaking In New Batteries - new batteries come in a discharged condition and must be fully charged before use. It is recommended that you fully charge and discharge your new battery two to four times to allow it to reach its maximum rated capacity. Keep Your Batteries Clean - it’s a good idea to clean dirty battery contacts with a cotton swab and alcohol. This helps maintain a good connection between the battery and your device. Exercise Your Battery – Do not leave your battery dormant for long periods of time. We recommend using the battery at least once every two to three weeks. If a battery has not been used for a long period of time, perform the new battery usage procedure described above. Battery Storage – If you do not plan on using the battery for a month or more, we recommend storing in a clean, dry, cool place away from heat and metal objects.

How long should my battery last?

The life of a rechargeable battery operating under normal conditions is generally up to 500 charge-discharge cycles. Up to 500 charge-discharge cycles means that your battery should power your device for at least 12 months before you begin to notice considerable shorter runtime. Every battery experiences battery degradation and power loss at different times it is normal and simply means you need to buy a new battery. Some batteries run for 3 years where others run for 12 months. Some heavey power users have battery runs if 8 months. Battery degradation and power loss does vary with each battery but in each battery it simply means that your battery has reached a point where it can no longer accpet a charge and recharge the chemical inside your battery.

Do I have to deep cycle charge my battery?

Some batteries do not achieve their maximum capacity until after several deep cycle charges (fully charging, fully discharging, and repeated) sometimes as much as 5 times. These are all brand new battery cells and don't always reach their full capacity until they've been used a bit. Please try to deep cycle your battery at least 4 times to bring your battery to full capacity.

Do I have to clean my battery?

Keeping the battery free from dust and dirt is always better for your battery and device. Sometimes cleaning the battery contacts may also improve battery peformance as your battery may not be getting the proper connection necessary to charge, recharge, and report battery information to the device. Remove the battery, and AC power. If you have access to the battery contacts inside of the battery compartment (in some devices it’s very accessible, others its almost impossible) try cleaning the connection terminals with rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip. Then re-install the battery after the contacts dry.

How long will my battery last?

Our batteries are typically rated for a 300-500 charge-discharge cycles; and with each charge-discharge cycle the runtime (time between charges) is reduced by the gradual depletion and usage of the battery's chemistry inside. This is the normal function of battery technology. A charge-discharge cycle means that a battery once at 100% draws power down to 0%. Then after recharge it will be back at 100%. This can be done 300-500 times on the same battery. Also with each charge-discharge cycle the runtime (time between charges) is reduced by the gradual depletion and usage of the battery's chemistry inside. For example you may notice in the first 3-4 months you are getting between 3-5 hours of runtime on your battery. Then in month 5-12 (after your purchase) you notice that you are slowly getting less and less runtime in between charges. This is the normal use of the chemistry inside your battery and DOES NOT mean that the battery is bad or defective, but simply has been used by you.
